8th International Folklore Festival
„EUROFOLK – Zamość 2009″ took place on July 21st-26th.
Eurofolk 2009 was organized by the Association of Friends of the Folk Song and Dance Ensemble „Zamojszczyzna” (National Court Registry no. 0000028072), with cooperation of the Song and Dance Ensemble „Zamojszczyzna” and the Zamość House of Culture . The festival was granted a honorary patronage by the mayor of Zamość, Mr. Marcin Zamoyski. The 7th edition took place on July 20th-26th.
This year adult folklore ensembles from the following countries participated:
Lithuania – Folk Dance Company „NERIS”
Serbia – KUD ” Branko Radicević”
Belgium – „Havermeuleke”
Spain – TUNA CMU Barberan de Madrid
Polish folklore was represented by the Song and Dance Ensemble „Zamojszczyzna” .
The main festival concerts took place on the open-air stage at the Great Market Square in Zamość. As part of the festival, concerts in tourist destinations of the region were also organized –
in Łaszczów (July 25th), Kawęczynek (July 26th), Szczebrzeszynie (July 23th and 24th).
The guest ensembles participated in:
– artistic workshops dedicated to teaching Polish folk dances
– joint performances of all ensembles on the main festival stage at the Great Market Square
– concerts outside of the city of Zamość on July 23rd-26th
– meeting with the city authorities on July 22nd and a colorful parade through the city streets (July 23rd at 5PM)
– sightseeing tours of Zamość and the Roztocze region
– a two-day folk art fair with the participation of folk art creators and dealers
– July 25th-26th – in the festival miss and mister pageant

17:00 – sound-check at the Market Square + rehearsal of the festival opening

17:00 – parade through the city (from the Zamość House of Culture to the Great Market Square)
18:00 – concert at the Great Market Square
23.07. (Thursday)

18:00 – concert of the ensembles from Bulgaria and Italy in Szczebrzeszyn
