The 7th International Folklore Festival Eurofolk was, like every year, a great endeavor to us.
All groups, prepared during the training camp in Krasnobród, eagerly awaited the opening of the festival and the colorful parade through the city streets. However, unfavorable weather (heavy rain!) forced us to cancel the parade. The youngest groups were the most disappointed, for it was their first festival and their first opportunity to take part in the parade through the city streets.
During the next few days the weather was still very capricious, but all of the scheduled concerts and side events took place nevertheless. And there was quite a lot of them! After the long concerts we often partied on with our guests during discos and folk games in the Nowe Miasto restaurant, integration meetings, learning the customs and culture of our foreign guests.
This year we had the honor of having ensembles from Spain, Italy, Puerto Rico, Hungary, Turkey and Mexico. Everyone was dazzled by the charm of our city, as well as its surroundings, since concerts also took place in Krasnobród, Szczebrzeszyn and Józefów. The participants also commended our level of organization and the concerts, the level of which was considered excellent. Colorful presentations of different cultures attracted crowds of inhabitants of Zamość and tourist to the Great Market Square every day, who in spite of the weather conditions stayed with us well into the night. This meeting of different came to an end with a finale concert on Sunday, where as per tradition we danced an oberek zamojski together.
It is worth mention that this year’s festival was organized thanks to the financial aid of the mayor of Zamość, the Zamość Electric Corporation, ZKE Dystrybucja S.P. z.o.o, PKP LHS, the County Office in Zamość and our invariably kind sponsors – to whom we extend our big thanks! The 7th edition of IFF Eurofolk is already the past, but new friendships and memories remain. Their power will motivate us for the coming year to make preparations for yet another festival.
